Overview:

Rajasthan is India’s largest state, located in the northwestern part of the country. It is known for its vast deserts, especially the Thar Desert. Rajasthan has a rich cultural heritage shaped by Rajput rulers. It also has living forts like Jaisalmer Fort, where people still reside inside the fort walls, making it a rare blend of history and daily life.

The state is also famous for its handicrafts, textiles, and delicious cuisine that includes dishes like dal baati churma and gatte ki sabzi. It is home to the world’s oldest mountain range, the Aravalli Range, which is even older than the Himalayas.

When to Visit:

Rajasthan has a mostly hot and dry climate, with extremely high temperatures in summer, mild winters, and low rainfall throughout the year.

Dry Season (October to March)

During these months, the weather is pleasant, with cool mornings and evenings, making it ideal for exploring forts, palaces, and desert areas. This is also the peak tourist season, especially in cities like Jaipur and Jaisalmer.

Wet Season (July to September)

Rajasthan receives light to moderate rainfall, mainly in regions like Udaipur and the Aravalli Range. While the desert areas remain relatively dry, the landscape becomes greener and more scenic. This season is less crowded and suitable for budget travelers, though outdoor sightseeing may be affected by occasional rains.

Special Events and Festivals:

Rajasthan is famous for its colorful festivals that reflect its rich culture and traditions.

  • Pushkar Camel Fair (November)
  • Desert Festival in Jaisalmer (February)
  • Gangaur Festival (March–April)

How The Rajasthan Welcome

When I visited Rajasthan it didn’t feel like a tourist, I felt like a guest in someone’s home.

The experience becomes even more special like, they invited me to sit with their family and eat homemade food. it was simple, but full of love.

Travelers are often invited to share simple, home-cooked meals like dal baati churma, cooked on traditional chulhas, offering an authentic taste of rural life.
